the coolest player in baseball history

Amos Otis

IMHO.  By the way: does anybody have a photo of A.O. making his signature one-handed catch in center field?  In 15 or 20 minutes of searching, I couldn’t find one on the web.

Check Topps and Donruss and some of the card sites. I seem to remember a card showing him making a catch.
I might be wrong, but it’s worth a try.
Good interview with Scott, but how can you put a DH on an all-time great team, and how do you not put Buck in the Hall?

As for his “not putting Buck in the Hall”, it could be he was looking at playing performance and Buck O’Neil was just not that great a player. The only case for him to be in the Hall is based on contributions via PBS miniseries and no one’s ever made the Hall on such a basis before.

Scott asked me for a DH, and Williams is perfect for it (if you must have a DH inthe first place!).
I don’t have a strong opinion on the Buck O’Neil controversy, nor (like I said) on the HOF in general.

But there is absolutely no doubt about one thing: A.O. STILL is the coolest player of all time. I just wish we had a position for that.
