Here’s a photograph I’ve never seen before, showing the Cuban Stars of 1907 (also known as the All-Havanas) prior to a series of games in Chicago with white semipro teams. It’s not a particularly great image quality-wise (having passed through microfilming then scanning), but they look resplendent in jerseys that proclaim them “Cuba’s Champions,” along with some spiffy-looking sweaters.

In actuality Almendares were the reigning champions of Cuba. The 1907 Cuban Stars did feature a few Almendares players, though, including the pitchers José Muñoz and Inocencio Pérez, outfielder Miguel Prats, and third baseman (and future major leaguer) Rafael Almeida. (Incidentally, the caption here is the first time I’ve seen Almeida identified as the Cuban Stars’ captain that year.)
