quite soon, as on July 7 of that very year the grandstands burned down before a
doubleheader with the Kansas City Monarchs, injuring a hundred people, causing
a loss of $12,000 to the park’s operator, John Roesink, and destroying a
limousine belonging to the Stars’ manager, Bingo DeMoss.
