Photo of the Week: 1900 Cuban X Giants

As I’ve been researching and writing about the Bacharach X Giants of 1919-1922, I ran across this well-known photo of the team whose name inspired the Bacharachs’ owners:

Since I don’t think anyone on the internet (or any books I have seen, at least that I can remember) has identified the players in this photo, I thought I might as well take a stab at it here. If anybody has seen different IDs for these players, let me know in comments.

Standing from left to right: Clarence Williams, James Dorsey Robinson, Big Bill Smith, Ray Wilson, Will Jackson

Seated middle row, left to right: Bill Monroe, Johnny Hill, Bob Jordan, Danny McClellan, John Nelson

Seated in front: Kid Carter

Going through them, one by one, with the player from this photo on the left, and other confirmed shots of my proposed IDs to the right:

Clarence Williams

James Dorsey Robinson

Big Bill Smith

Ray Wilson

Will Jackson

Bill Monroe

Johnny Hill

Bob Jordan

Danny McClellan

John Nelson

Kid Carter
