Gary Ashwill researches and writes about Negro league and Latin American baseball. He is the founder and lead researcher of the Seamheads Negro Leagues Database, which is used by Major League Baseball, Baseball-Reference.com, the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR), and Fangraphs.

He has won SABR’s Henry Chadwick Award, and the John Coates Next Generation Award, the Fay Vincent Award, and the Tweed Webb Lifetime Achievement Award from SABR’s Jerry Malloy Negro League Conference.
